Exfoliate gently 24–48 hours before, avoid lotions or oils on the day of your appointment, and make sure hair is long enough for removal (1/4 inch, about the length of a grain of rice). Wear loose fitting and comfortable clothes to the appointment.

Avoid sweating, friction, hot tubs, saunas, tanning, heavy workouts, and tight clothing for at least 24 hours to prevent irritation. Let your skin chill and glow instead!

Contraindications for Waxing

Waxing may not be suitable for everyone. For your safety and best results, avoid waxing if you have any of the following:

Skin conditions or irritation

• Open cuts, wounds, or broken skin
• Sunburned skin
• Active rashes, hives, or irritation in the treatment area
• Skin infections (bacterial, fungal, or viral)
• Severe acne, especially in the area being waxed
• Active cold sores (for facial waxing) or herpes outbreaks (for intimate waxing)

Medical conditions

• Uncontrolled diabetes (due to skin sensitivity and healing concerns)
• Autoimmune conditions affecting skin healing 
• Recent surgery in or near the treatment area
• Blood clotting disorders or use of certain medications (consult recommended)

Medications & skin sensitivity

• Use of Retin-A, Tretinoin, Accutane (Isotretinoin), or other strong retinoids within the last 12 months 
• Use of strong exfoliating acids (AHA/BHA) in last 7 days
• Recent chemical peels or microdermabrasion (wait 2 weeks)
• Laser resurfacing in last 4 weeks
• Antibiotics or medications that increase skin sensitivity 

Other considerations

• Very short hair (not enough for wax to grip)
• Excessively fragile or thinning skin
• Severe varicose veins in the area being waxed
• Recent tanning (sun or tanning beds) within 24–48 hours
